Strategy for $\int tan^{m} x sec^{n} x d x$

If $n$ is even, reserve $sec^{2} x$ and convert the rest using $sec^{2} x = 1 + tan^{2} x$ ; use $u = tan x$ .
If $m$ is odd, reserve $sec x tan x$ and convert the rest using $tan^{2} x = sec^{2} x - 1$ ; use $u = sec x$ .
In other cases it may be necessary to use identities, reduction, or integration by parts.
